Although at present we won’t find solar cars

running on our road, even these are not

available at any dealership but in the future

they will play a vital part.

The first solar car created on 31st

August 1955 by William G. Cobb of

General motors.

The solar car was made up:

A small pooley electric motor

12 selenium photovoltaic

cells

But, it was too small to drive.

Active solar technology

Let’s know about passive solar technology:

Passive solar technology uses sunlight

without active mechanical system and

are adjusted to fit in any climate.

Such technology will convert sunlight into

usable heat with the help of some other

energy sources causing air-movement for

future use.

Let’s know about active solar technology:

Active solar technologies use photovoltaic

cells that will directly convert sunlight to

electricity .

How solar car works ???

Sunlight hits the cells of the solar array

producing some electrical current.

Then the energy passes to the motor

controller or the batteries for storage.

And it can be used to power the motor which

will make the car to move.

If the car is in running position then the

sunlight will directly pass to the motor

controller but if it receives more energy that

will get stored in the batteries.

Advantages Of Solar Energy:

Renewable resource

Cost free

Non polluting

Easy installation

No maintenance

Disadvantages:

High initial cost

Sun doesn’t shine 24 hours
