Replacement tire demand of a particular country is directly dependent on the country’s vehicle fleet sizeand historical vehicle sales. The replacement demand is, therefore, extracted by multiplying the vehiclefleet with the replacement tire ratio, which is obtained by conducting a series of surveys with car ownersto understand the frequency of tire replacement as it varies for different countries depending uponfactors such as road conditions, climate, economic and regulatory policies applicable in a country. Thereplacement ratio is expressed as a percentage. For example, in case of passenger cars, replacementratio is considered to be 100% if four tire is replaced per vehicle per year.

In 2015, passenger car segment dominated the country’s tire market. According to the World Bank, theGross National Income per capita of Saudi Arabia was USD23,550 in 2015. Moreover, the Government of SaudiArabia banned the import of used vehicles over the age of 5 years in 2009. Backed by increasing purchasing powerand favourable government policies, the passenger car segment is anticipated to maintain its dominance in thecountry’s tire market over the next five years as well.
