The town of Milford, NH is located in south central New Hampshire just west of Nashua. This town of 15,115 is on the Souhegan River in Hillsborough County. Milford can trace its history back to 1794 when it separated itself from the nearby town of Amherst. Milford has a history of granite and textile production but in recent years has transitioned to manufacturing and retail.

Sights to see in this lovely New England Town include the William Peabody House and Milford Cotton and Woolen Manufacturing Company or The Mill. The William Peabody House is one of the earliest homes in the area dating to before the American Revolution and the owners were active in local politics and leadership for three generations. The builder of this home was one William Peabody Sr. who was the first settler in the area in 1740. His son was involved in local politics and his grandson fought in the American Revolutionary war. This home is a fine example of the Georgian period in architecture.      

The Milford Cotton and Woolen Manufacturing Company building is a link to Milford's past in textiles built in 1813 and is well known for having helped weave the uniforms worn by American servicemen in World War I and World War II. This large factory saw production from 1813 to 1833 and was then revived 1840. It would see several owners and several sales over the years but would retain its importance until finally becoming a retirement community in 1983. It remains an example of early 1800s architectural style.
