The Kia Soul is an affordable, hatchback, compact car that has been in production since
2008.
Since then, it comes equipped with a bevy of features to go with the string of awards that
it has been given.
Listed at under $14,000, the Soul has become one of the most popular, affordable,
compact cars on the market over the past few years.
Five-speed manual and four-speed automatic; although, the 1.6L version does not have the
automatic option.
All versions of the Soul also have good fuel economy,
garnering at least 24 miles per gallon, city and 31 miles per
gallon, highway.
The 1.6L version manages to stretch out even more miles on city streets, which makes it an even more attractive buy for
metropolis denizens.
Other versions of the engine go up to 2 liters and have the standard five-speed manual transmissions along with the
four-speed automatic transmission optional.
Kia by no means slouched on the safety department, and the Soul was named a 2010 IIHS
Top Safety pick, which is awarded based on roof, side, front and rear strength along
with electronic stability.
The Kia Soul also earned a maximum five out of five stars
rating from the Euro NCAP. Other safety features include
full-length side curtain airbags to go along with dual front seat
mounted air bags and advanced driver and passenger
front seat airbags.
Soul has both active safety systems to help prevent
accidents to begin with, but should the unfortunate
occurrence come to pass, it is equipped with numerous
passive features to minimize injuries as much as possible.
Those looking to purchase the Kia Soul have the option of
several packages with different versions of the car.
One package option is the audio upgrade, which includes
a center speaker, a sub woofer, a 315 watt amplifier, and different color speaker
lights.
One other option includes the leather, heated seats but also includes a push-button start and a smart key to go along
with it.
The options that are available to you completely depend on which version of the Soul you
plan on purchasing.
While the base Kia Soul is the cheapest, it does not have nearly as many included
features as the sport model.
With a cheap price tag combined with some of the
best safety reviews in it class, the Kia Soul is definitely worth every penny that could be put
into it.
Good gas mileage and a surprising amount of
customization add a surprising amount of style to a vehicle
that is meant to be an affordable, compact car.
