Introduction

A pastor and entrepreneur, Lee McFarland greatly enjoys working on cars, attending cars shows, riding motorcycles and ATVs, and driving sports cars and Jeeps when he is not working. Lee McFarland especially enjoys riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

When riding a motorcycle, there are several things to remember to stay safe. First, choose a bike that fits you. Make sure you can rest both feet solidly on the ground when sitting on the bike and that you can easily get on and off the center stand. Second, buy a helmet that fits, and wear it. Taking a motorcycle safety course is a great way of learning about traffic safety laws and how to drive defensively.

Distractions

Distraction is dangerous when riding a motorcycle, often even more so than when driving a car. Stay aware of everything going on around you and don’t mess around with a cell phone or try to eat and drive at the same time. Also keep in mind that drivers in large cars sometimes have a hard time seeing a motorcycle. This may result in a car suddenly changing lanes. Therefore, try to stay out of a driver’s blind spot, and expect the unexpected.
