I remember one the vehicle that my brother purchase at a car auction.
It was a 2013 Escalade.
He loved this vehicle.
The vehicle had every feature that he wanted.
The Escalade also had low miles.
The best part of the whole experience is that my brother also saved a ton of money
compared to what he would have had to pay at the dealership for the same kind of
vehicle.
I also decided that I wanted to purchase a vehicle at a car auction, but I wasn’t as car
savvy as my brother was.
With that in mind I did some research and I found some tips that can help anyone who is
considering buying a car at auction.
The first tip at buying a vehicle at an auction is to be honest with yourself.
This being said know what kind of value you desire in a vehicle.
There is no point in buying a vehicle that save you a couple grand if in the time that
you own the vehicle you must put six grand into repairs.
The next tip is to use your senses especially your sight.
Vehicle sold at government auctions are sold by their appearance alone.
This means that you should do a thorough inspection of the vehicle.
If the vehicle has a funny smell to it, then know that you should avoid that vehicle.
Another tip especially at government auctions is to not let the unknown scare you.
If you see a vehicle that you like, and almost everything checks out other than a few dings
then consider the vehicle.
If you can acquire a good vehicle at a discounted price, that may only need a couple hundred dollars’ worth in image maintenance then bid on the vehicle.
The next tip that people should consider when buying a vehicle at auction especially if at a public option is to check the VIN of the
vehicle.
The reason for this is that the vehicle may appear great, but it may have also been in a
few accidents that have left some unseen issues that could be very costly down the
road.
An additional tip is to check the dip sticks of the vehicle.
If the vehicle has been properly maintained, then the fluid should be clear.
One of the most important tips is to remember that “As Is” means “As Is”.
This means if you purchase a vehicle that you think is superb, but didn’t do a quality check up on it then you could be throwing
away money.
