Shots and camera angles that I like for my music video

Within this short sequence we see the male putting his hand to his face within his kitchen, it then cuts to the man with his had on his face however in different clothing and a different location. I liked this technique as I found it was a very interesting and cleaver way of changing between scenes. I feel that I could use this effectively within my music video. For this shot I would need to make sure that the positioning was exact although the camera angles for this are slightly different I feel it would be more impacting is they were the same. I also liked the use of blurring the camera as the shot changes as I feel this adds a mystery to what is going to happen next. If I were to use this technique in my video I would experiment with the lighting as I feel it could give different effects. For example if it started in a dark room then changed to a light room it would give a dream like impression as well as conveying the characters are in a happier and more fun place where as, if it when from light to dark it would contrast this by giving a more depressed and dreary atmosphere.

Within this short sequence the camera is a POV shot. We see each girl slap the person behind the camera which then leads to the camera panning around as if it has been effected. I like the idea of having something in the shot that makes the camera move instead of just cutting. I feel that it is a good way to change from the location or change from the people. I think it is a innovative technique to use and I feel it could look vey effective in my music video.

Within this shot that gets repeated throughout the video utilising different camera angles and a varied amount of smoke we see the girl dancing in it. As the video goes along there is more and more smoke. Although this is done with a green screen in the background I feel I could utilise the idea and make it compatible to my music video. I feel that it creates a magical illusion giving like the blurred camera effect a dream like atmosphere to the shot. It makes it seem as if it is not really happening creating an illusion. I feel that this would also work outside and create a whole different feel as well as changing the amount of people that are in the shot. I feel that by having people dancing in it, it creates a mystic feel. By using different colours of smoke it will create different feelings and emotions conveying how the characters are feelings.

I feel that the content within this shot is very pleasing on the eye. The woman within the shot is blowing glitter from her hands to the camera. I feel that this looks appealing from the audiences perspective. I like this idea however would try and create it on a bigger scale if I were to use this idea within my music video. This is used within an advert for Addis's trainers with a pop song in the background however I feel that by converting the mis-en-scene it could be utilised to fit the indie/alternative nature of my chosen genre.

Not only do I think that blowing/throwing glitter at the camera works I feel that within this shot it works too. For this they have thrown glitter at the persons face. Obviously you have to be careful in doing this as it could get in to peoples eyes however I like the idea of the glitter being thrown in the shot.

Within these shots we see the utilisation of power paint inspired by the Indian festival of colour called holi. Within the top two images there are different ways in which we can see the paint being thrown. The first of the two shows the crowd from afar throwing up the paint giving a Mexican way effect. Within the second we see it from the perspective of the crowd themselves throwing up the paint. Both give different views and effects for the audience however both look interesting and beautiful. In contrast to the multiple colours shown within the documentary shots above the two shots below are form an advert for a new phone. Within these shots we see people covered in just two colours however within these shots we actually see people covered in the powder and not just throwing it up in the air. I feel that although I wouldn’t be able to do it on the scale shown within these images I would be able to recreate it effectively. By utilising different camera angles and shots we can see it form different perspective which in turn makes it look more beautiful. By seeing the colours intertwining in the sky as well as seeing it as it hits people on their cloths will give a good contrast making the shots interesting.

These images are taken from a bank advert (hence the righting on the second shot). Within the shots as the lighting is dark it makes the people stand out against the redness of the lanterns as they look like silhouettes. Within these shots we see a close up on the people getting ready to let go of there lanterns which then leads to seeing all of them in the sky with a reflection on the river. The lighting with in both of these shots is beautiful. I like the idea of using these big sky lanterns as I feel that as props they really fit into the indie/alternative genre. I could use the same idea and create drawings on the lanterns however it would look very pure and soulful if they were white.

This shot is from a pop video from Jessie j’s song Price tag. Although my genre will be indie/alternative I like the mis-en-scene and the idea of the puppet. By having a white a face and bright hair they contrast each other giving a very vacant look. By utilising string as well as the body parts to look disjointed it gives a very childlike toy effect. I feel that I could use this idea within my music video however convert it to fit the conventions of the indie/alternative genre. For example I could use more face paint to create a more interesting and unusual look.

I like the way the artist is not just framed by the camera its self but by and object. I think that this is a really inventive way of making the artist stand out. This could be done by using lots of different object, as well as going down the obvious route of using large photo frames. As well as this it could also be use to frame other objects of places and not just the artists.
