Marker ,,, Wet or Dry ?

Marker, Unlike any other medium, is

applied wet but dries Almost Instantly

1 ) Realistic Colors may be easily achieved without mixing colors or using brush. 2 ) Wide Colors Selection 3) Compatibility with other media such as colored pencil

Creating a Gradual Value Change

Select 3 to 5 markers from the same color range with values from light to dark

Apply the lightest color vertically several times to the entire area

While the lightest color is still wet, use the next darker color to cover approximately ( Two thirds ) of the area

Immediately use the first color and apply it vertically several times where the two colors meet.

While the second color is still wet, use the next darker color to cover the remaining One third of the area

Immediately Use the Second color to CLEAN THE LINE BETWEEN THE TWO COLORS

Using a colorless

[ BLENDER ] as the lighter color will give

the drawing a soft water color appearance

For a very dark shade you can flip the paper

and paint from the other side

Note : When you Render with markers on ( Ink Drawing ) if the ink is not waterproof, the ink will bleed on the marker color :

When Outlines of the original drawing are not readily visible, its is necessary to outline the entire drawing again with a black felt-tip pin

The lighter the value and the smaller the size of a drawing, the thinner the pen that should be used

Marker colors may be mixed by applying one color on top of another

To create strips apply the first coat of marker and wait 2 to 3 minutes for it to dry then use the same marker to draw over the desired area.

Applying two coats of a color, waiting between coats, will make the next darker value

Create a marker chart with spectrum selection and good range of values for quick reference

Markers dry easily in a hot, dry environment. They should be kept in a cool place

If a marker does become dry, it may be rejuvenated by adding a few drops of lighter fluid rubber cement thinner, or Toluene. This will somewhat reduce the intensity of color

Never throw away old markers. Dry markers can often be used to make lighter values and special effects

Use index cards, masking tape, or other appropriate material as a frisket, or mask, for a smooth straight-lined look
