1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media

products? My media product uses, develops and challenges other media products in many ways. I attempted to use different types of products to inspire my product. I did this predominantly in my research and planning, but developed my own work constantly as I found new interesting ideas.

The genre of my Music magazine was ‘Grime Music’ and my target age group was teenagers from 13 – 19. So It was important I took this too consideration when researching for my work.

Using other media products

The most prominent place in which I have used other media in my work is in my contents page. When researching I found a contents page by vibe that interested me. The way the title ‘Contents’ was set out was very interesting and unformed. I thought this sort of style could work well in my products as I am targeting teenagers; so an unformed approach Is important. What I also liked about this content page is the way in which the figure takes up the majority of the page. This draws the readers attention to the figure.

My media product uses an idea from 3 magazines I saw. I liked the idea of having a picture, covering both sides of the double page spread. I also like the idea of having a quote in handwriting styles font. This makes the page look less formal and more relaxed.

I have tried to challenge other media products mainly in my photography. The lack of lighting used in my pictures may have given a dull affect, but by using fades and black and white affects I have made my pictures very interesting. This is shown predominantly in my front cover.

These are some of the photos I took for my double page spread. I intended on creating a casual affect with basic light.
