The Locations For Our Preliminary Task

Page 2: Preliminary Task - Locations

First Location

The reason why we chose this particular location was that it shows the audience how remote the area is through the means of the establishing shot. The scenery looks cheerful and peaceful but behind the trees is where the eerie, abandoned building is where Emily is being held hostage. This highlights how everything is not always how it seems and it will surprise the audience because it’s unexpected.

Location We chose this setting as it switches the perspective from pretty and calm to spooky and uneasy. This helps the audience to understand that Emily has been taken somewhere secret as it is concealed from sight. It also reveals to the audience that the figure has bad intentions as the location is reserved.

We chose this shot because it shows the location of where the door is. It also shows the scale of the inside

of the building and additionally it highlights the

contrast between the different atmospheres

of the location (exterior and interior). This shot will act as a

transition into the next scene.

The location shown is rusty, dark and abandoned - these are the features that we need to create the best atmosphere for the kidnappers hide out. Not only is it a perfect location for the setting, it also would make the audience feel sympathetic for the girl as the conditions that she is being held in are terrible.
