In 1966 he was the member of the Workers Party of Turkey. He was a founder and board member of the Turkish Peace Association. In 1978 he took place in the editorial board of arts and culture monthly 'Sanat Emeği'. Wrote weekly essays on art in the daily 'Politika'.In 1971 during Military Memorendum and in 1980 during Military Coup he has been taken in custody two times for 46 month, because of being membership of the Turkish Peace Association and the exhibition of 'Paintings from Prison'. All his archive and books, his mural painting 'Prometeus', acrilic on cement, 110m2 are destroyed. The detention ended in 1986.It is possible to see on his Works especially on his drawings the effects of these chaotic times. He is generally a figurative painter, his women figures are stunning and exceptional. Using only two colours he generates incredible coloured paintings.  1941-Born in Samsun, of a Selonica decendant father and painter artist mother from a Pasha family of İstanbul. 1960-Graduates Roberts College in Istanbul. Two years of military service in an anatolian village as a primary school teacher.1966-Graduates from the Fine Arts Accademy of Rome and returns to Turkey. Mural paintings, posters for democratic organisations and trade unions, drawings for progressive publications.1968-First solo exhibition in Istanbul. First marriage. Works on ceramics, graphics, stage design and experimental short films. Group works with other artists.1976-First mural painting execution during the International Arts Festival of Antalya; 'Prometeus', acrilic on cement, 110m2. Selected chairman to the Visual Arts Association of Turkey. Divorce. Draws the countrywide popular poster for the 1st of May.1977-Group exhibitions in Paris and Berlin. The '1st of May' poster wins 1st prize in the International Poster Competition of the World Federation of Trade Unions, Prague.

1980-Another major mural painting 'Our World'; acrilic on cement, 70m2, Metal Workers Union Building, Istanbul.1982-Exhibition of 'paintings from Maltepe Prison', in Istanbul. 1985-Exhibition of 'Paintings of Longing' in Ankara, organized by his wife Melek. Nomination of the 12 detained peace movement leaders for the Nobel Peace Prize.1990- Exhibition “1890; on History and Freedom” in Ankara; a body of drawings and paintings on the history of democracy in Turkey.1993- Retrospective exhibition "25th year" in Istanbul. 1996- Solo exhibition. Gallerie Chausse-Coque, Geneve, Switzerland: Drawing exhibition in the Municipality Gallery of Athenes, Greece.1997-His major painting exhibition with 60 canvases, in Istanbul. Participation 'Face to Face' exhibition of friendship with 15 Greek and 15 Turkish artists, in Istanbul. 1998- 'Face to Face' exhibition of friendship with 15 Greek and 15 Turkish artists, in the Melina Mercury Cultural Center, Athenes, Greece. Selected as ‘State Artist’ by the Ministry of Cult ure.2000- 2008- Works and exhibitions on sculptures with paper-mache and modern materials. Continues organizing joint exhibitions of Turkish and Greek artists. Exibits paintings and drawings in Istanbul and Ankara each year.
