Since some of my original planning the narrative of my music video has changed. This is due to complications with using props, actors and locations. The original narrative was going to be an open text which still had a firm storyline to it. This meant that each narrative the audience members would develop would be different, but would follow roughly the same outline. The original narrative followed the story of two girls who where in a relationship together. The storyline would focus on how they went about spending their days with each other. Through this it would characterise both girls and show how their relationship would work.

The influence I first took from the song was all based around keeping everything in my music video modern and urban so that it would fit the genre. However, as the songs influence changed with time, the more my ideas developed for the imagery that I wanted to capture. The original narrative involved using as many modern aspects of todays society as possible. So, this involved things such as using a homosexual relationship, a very modern city (London) and really just staying away from anything that could be deemed to be natural or a binary opposite to modern society.

My ideas have now transitioned to a point that has given me a strong idea of what my music video is going to based around. I want my music video to based around the advancements our society is currently making and how we are all heading forward all the time. Our society is now all about moving forward into the future even if some of the advancements that are being made aren’t necessarily the best choices. I want to almost challenge this ideology in my music video.

I want to bring around the idea in the audiences mind that there is a choice in society, we don’t have to take the route of these advancements, we can chose to go against the advancements that we think or know are going to cause a form of corruption. Currently this applies to choices involving our government and police force (thought the police force corruption is more of an issue in America). I want to highlight this choice as one of the main narratives in my music video. I also want to use this idea of constant progression in my work. I want to use an image of a moving vehicle, mostly likely a train, to reinforce this idea. The audience will be reminded of this constant movement through a modern form of transportation.

I think this new approach to my music video will be more successful in terms of having an impact on my audience. I think by incorporating these new ideas into my music video I will be creating a production that I will be more happy with. These new ideas will allow me to use the natural settings that surround me to create cinematography that will construct the precise kind of aesthetic that I want. By adapting my media to a more suitable and achievable narrative I will be able to use my skills as a photographer as much as possible in this music video. I will be able to shoot easier in a location that I feel more comfortable with. I would like my style of photography to show through in the end product. I want to use different kinds of camera work in the city compared to the country side. I want the fluency of my shooting in the country side to maybe add another influence. I want to leave the idea of a storyline as a very open concept. When combining all my final footage together I want to form an overall montage that has the interpretation of an open text to it. I want the audience to form their own ideas and narrative about what my music video is on. However, I will have some control over this with the intertextual references and the links the audience make with them.
