Hardware; Computer

This Apple IMac G5 as it has a duel core processor which means it can multitask several applications at once which is useful when working with adobe Photoshop and other applications such as safari to do research. It is equip with 3GB of ram which means it can have several applications open without the need to be reloaded so multitasking is seamless. The keyboard was only ever used for researching the target market on the internet browser (safari) and the mouse was used at all times to navigate around the computers software.

Nikon D3100 – Digital SLRSettings – ManualAperture f11 with a Shutter Speed at 1/300th

Horseshoe flash trigger and a Hemisphere 300 strobe flash were used in conjunction with the camera as well as the soft boxes and backdrop to make the lighting appear more natural.

The horseshoe flash trigger connects to the DSLR camera enables the flash from the strobe lights to be triggered at the same time that the camera takes the picture. The white back drop is there to give a high exposure and a whiter background.

Hardware: miscellaneous

SD card and Reader:The SD card was used to save the pictures that were taken on the camera were then ported to the MAC computer by using the usb card reader as it plugs into the back of the computer.

Software:

Adobe Photoshop:A graphics editor made by the company Adobe who also produce other software. This was used for editing pictures and putting graphics such has pictures, boxes and shapes together to crate various parts of my magazine such as the general look of the contents page.

I started off on Photoshop by creating a new international piece of A4 paper. Form there on I could insert graphical layers such as images and shaped, lastly I inserted the text onto the page after I had the initial design of my page worked out.

Software:

Safari:This was used as my browser of choice as they come preinstalled on the computer. I used this software to research existing magazines and to get more ideas for my own magazine.

Slide share:This is a service that runs online which allows you to embed links for documents such as Microsoft PowerPoint and have it compressed into a short link to be used across the internet. I used this to embed links onto my blog that consisted off my coursework write-up that was done on PowerPoint.

Software:

Adobe InDesign:This was used only for my magazine article as it is useful when working with large amounts of text, as it has many features that are exclusive to the software such as being able to make the text carry on form one box to another.

Microsoft PowerPoint:I used this to write up coursework such as the different questions including this one. It is used because it is really easy to use as I have experience with it as well as the fact is has a built in spell checker.

Word press:

This is a website that enables someone to create and publish their own blog by being able to insert media such as images and videos, as well as embedding documents such as power points through short links to slide share.

I used this as it is easy to use as the features are easily labeled, as well as the fact it is accessible on more than one operating system as it works on windows as well as tablets so the software can be used anywhere.
