WHAT WILL YOUR MAGAZINE BE CALLED? WHAT WILL THE TITLE SIGNIFY?

My magazine shall be called Bounce. The title signifies up beat music that everyone can enjoy and links to the genre which is pop. The title also signifies that the magazine is very modern and 'sharp' which would probably be aimed at a younger audience.

WHAT GENRE OF MUSIC WILL YOU COVER, OR WILL IT BE SEVERAL GENRES?

The genre of music I shall be covering pop music. The reason I will be covering pop music is because it's the music I know the best so can follow the forms and conventions of this genre effectively and making the magazine look and be at a high standard.

WHAT TYPE OF COLOURS / FONTS / IMAGES WILL YOU USE? WHAT WILL THE OVERALL FEEL OF YOUR MAGAZINE BE LIKE?

The colours used will be a mix of white, red, black and yellow which shall be my house colours and the feel of my house style. I have chosen to use these colours because I wanted my magazine to have a clean, sharp look towards it and these colours will fit my needs. Also the yellow and red will stand out nicely against the black and white but at the same time complement them very well. The fonts will also keep to my house style of clean, sharp so they will be very bold and cutting edge. By this I mean the text will not fade into any backgrounds and shall have a modern font, kind of like the 'NME' font. The images I will use will be a straight on portrait of a a young females face with also the shoulders in the picture making eye contact with the camera. The female will have black eye makeup one with dark red lipstick so again keeps the constant house style continuing. The expression on her face will be very sophisticated and confident which then appeals to woman.

WHO ARE YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE – THEIR AGE, GENDER, INTERESTS, AND WHAT WILL THEY GET FROM THE

MAGAZINE?

My target audience will ideally be young adults and teenagers because the type of music appeals to that age range. The magazine will appeal to both male and female but mainly female. The reason that its shall appeal to males as the average male is attracted to females and a female is on the cover. The reason it shall appeal to females because the expression on her face will be very sophisticated and confident which then appeals to woman because they idolise people like that, for example Katy Perry. To the left is a image of what I see as my “typical reader”.

WHO WILL YOU TAKE PHOTOS OF? REMEMBER YOU NEED AT LEAST 4, AND ARE NOT ALLOWED TO USE THOSE OFF THE INTERNET? WHERE WILL YOU TAKE THE

PHOTOS, AND WHAT COSTUMES WILL YOU ASK YOUR SUBJECTS TO WEAR?

I shall take photos of Tilly Blakemore. I took the photos on a white background with bright light to make the persons facial features stand out. I asked my subject to wear a black low cut top with a green coat with a fury hoodie. The reason I have chose these types of clothing is because they make the magazine seem wintery and because its coming up to that season so thought I would keep that feel to my magazine. Also trends is very important to music magazine and because parker coats are in fashion at the moment I thought I would keep to that modern music with modern style.

WHICH MAGAZINES DID YOU THINK WERE ONES THAT WERE SUCCESSFUL IN YOUR RESEARCH AND TEXTUAL

ANALYSIS?

I believe the magazines that were successful in my research included NME and Q as they are well known music magazines and when learning about the forms and conventions they used it effectively.

WHAT MAGAZINES WILL YOU BASE YOURS ON, OR WILL IT BE FAIRLY UNIQUE? WHAT CONVENTIONS DID YOU LIKE IN

OTHER MAGAZINES?

My magazine will be based on the pop magazines 'We Love Pop' and 'Top Of The Pops'. They are music magazines that are specific to the genre of pop and appeal to female teenagers. Even though I will be following the conventions and helping out with ideas for my own magazine.

GO AGAINST THEM?

WHAT TYPE OF ARTICLE WILL YOU DO? WILL IT BE AN INTERVIEW, A FEATURE, A GIG

REVIEW, OR SOMETHING ELSE?

The type of article I will do will be a Question and Answer article (Q+A). The reason I shall do this type of article is because it’s very engaging as there is back and forth short snappy conversation, not just a boring piece of chunky text explain what’s going on. It involves the reader as they feel they are watching this conversation happen live and not just reading an article. I feel it is the most interesting type of article and knowing that my article will be focusing on how she “Freya Stratford” is adapting to the life of being a famous pop star.

WHAT TYPE OF RULES AND AIMS WILL YOUR MAGAZINE HAVE? WILL IT BE A RISKY, EDGY PUBLICATION OR A SAFE ONE? IS IT BIG OR SMALL BUDGET?

The aims of my magazine will be to inform the reader in a fun exciting way about the new star “Freya Stratford” and more stories about pop stars and gossip. It also has the aims of promoting her music to the audience and making them see this new star as an idol and therefore sell lots of magazines and music and tickets to go and see her. It shall also focus on telling the audience of teenage girls all about the new gossip and music surrounding the pop world. It shall be a fun upbeat article with lots of gossip but I shall keep the content safe and PG as this magazine is appealing to teenage girls and using inappropriate language and ideas about Freya may have a negative affect on the over all magazine. The budget will be a middle of the way budget as this magazine is new and if this were a real magazine I would find out how the public reacted to it and if they liked it I would expand the budget in the future to make a better magazine using more expensive techniques and prop, lighting ect to gain lots of readers.

WHAT TYPE OF OTHER STORIES WILL YOU MENTION ON YOUR CONTENTS PAGE? WILL YOU INCLUDE AN EDITOR’S

LETTER TO GIVE AN OVERALL FEEL OF THE MAGAZINE?

Other stories I will mention in the contents page will be pop based as that is the whole feel of the magazine. So I shall include pages for specific artists and how their career is doing and then just other articles appealing to the gossip about the pop world. I shall include an editors letter as it makes it feel more personal to the reader and give it a feel about what type of magazine this will be and the content included.
