EVALUATION QUESTION 7Looking back at your preliminary task,

what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full

product?

School Magazine

When I look back at my school magazine, I feel like I have learnt a lot, especially in the area of Photoshop. Before hand I knew little to nothing at all, and even though we didn’t use Photoshop in the preliminary task, I feel that my lack of knowledge and skills for Publisher shows a lot. I used a lot of box’s (yet it was a good structural technique)and it made it look very basic and boring. My colour scheme was very bland, and my school logo was a photograph of a drawing of my school logo. This shows that my knowledge at this point was very basic and very limited.

Music Magazine

When planning my school magazine, it was originally going to be a Halloween special, hence the reason why I used Alice in Wonderland with creepy make-up. In my first plan there were going to be multiple graphics of pumpkins/bats and a series of other Halloween inspired graphic images. However I realised that this would be quite difficult because I would have had to hand draw all of the graphic images, and the house style would have no consistency as all the fonts and colours would change in order to fit the theme of Halloween. But I learnt that it needed to be conventional to the genre of music I was aiming to promote and to represent.

Music Magazine CoverMy magazine cover changed a lot, the design changed and so did the layout. This was because there wasn’t a lot of content, to much space and it just didn’t represent my target audience well enough.

Contents PageMy magazine contents page changed a lot, the layout changed regularly due to the content being added/taken away and manipulated. This was because there wasn’t a lot of content, to much space and it just didn’t fit the codes and conventions of a music magazine.

Double Page Spread

My double page spread didn’t change that much, except for the fact that I wanted to manipulate the image a bit more as I felt that it didn’t stand out to the audience a lot, and I felt that making it more vibrant added more colour to the colour scheme.
