Digital Techniques: Level 1

Photoshop

Using Photoshop to create Costume

Designs We used layers in Photoshop to

add different fabrics onto a basic costume design

We used a similar method to transfer the image of a face onto the design

Layers in Photoshop could also be useful when creating a set design

Auto CAD

During an auto CAD workshop we were talked through a variety of exercises to help us get to grips with the software.

Auto CADWe were shown how o create shapes to scale and how show the dimensions. This is useful when designing for the theatre as you have to work to scale and show dimensions on technical drawings.

Auto CAD

After completing a number of exercises we were then given the challenge of using our new found knowledge to create the image of a floppy disk

This was a very useful task as it made me think about what I had just learnt

3D Studio Max

We were given an introduction into how to use 3D studio Max. The image to here shows how a simple box shape can be manipulated to look like something completely different.

3D Studio Max

We were given time to explore some of the things that the software could do I discovered how to use a variety of shapes.

3D Studio Max

Here we shown how to use the various tools in order to create a table leg. This software would be very useful for set designs.

3D Studio Max Here I have created a stage with walls and a table to go on the stage. The

software allows me to copy the table leg I had previously created four times so that I didn't have to draw each leg individually. It is similar to auto CAD in the way that it allows you to work to scale. In is different in the way that you can see your design in a 3-dimmensional form.
