What have you learned about technologies from the process of

producing this product? Skills developed, strengths and limitations

In the process of producing my media project I learnt many different things. I first learned how to take a photo of a very high standard and then how to import and edit these images. I also mastered Adobe Photoshop which was a challenge as this was something that was knew to me before this particular project.

I feel that my biggest strength was the editing of the images that would appear on my finished product, this was important because they needed to be of a high standard as they had to look professional on the finished media product. If they didn’t it would have ruined the magazine because the images are arguably the most important part of the finished project. For the images shown on the next slide I first cut out the background and then smoothed off the edges so that they weren't as sharp and any little bits that were still noticeable would not be apparent, I then used the luminosity effect, which gave the image the black and white contrast that is shown on the edited image.

When taking the images I had to decided on the setting, the image that I used on my front cover was taking in front of graffiti which I think fits in well with the genre of magazine that I was trying to produce, I also think that it provides a certain edge to the piece.

The main skill that I have developed is that I now feel confident using Adobe Photoshop, whereas before this project it was something new to me that I did not fully understand, but I now feel that it is something I could use with relative ease. I feel that my biggest strength when producing the magazine was editing the images, this was something that I felt was important to the magazine, as just basic bland images would have been boring and wouldn’t have fitted in very well with the genre of magazine that I was going to produce. The biggest weakness that I found within my piece was the actual cutting out of the images, the ‘magic wand tool’ was something that I could not use very well and I found myself using the rubber more as this gave me a much more defined edge, I also found that I was using the blur tool as to make the edged of the image look more smooth, as they looked a little bit ragged before this.
