Delhi - The Mini India–

is an Enigma for Historians and Authors

The Red Fort:

Converted to a barracks by the British, this massive fort is a sandstone carcass of its former self, but it still conjures up memories of the splendor of Mughal Delhi.

Humayun's Tomb:

The most perfectly proportioned and captivating of Delhi's mausoleums, Humayan'stomb seems to float above the gardens that surround it.

Lotus Temple:

East of Nehru place, this temple is built in the shape of a lotus flower with 27 immaculate white-marble petals and is the last of seven Major Bahai's temples built around the world.

Akshardham Temple:

The temple complex represents an unique blend of the Hindu religion and Indian culture. It has got 20,000 statues, floral motifs, arches as well as exquisitely carved pillars.

India Gate:

India Gate is one of the largest war memorials in India. The walls of the Gate have been inscribed with the names of the Indian soldiers who died in World War I and the Afghan Wars.

Jama Masjid:

India’s largest mosque can hold a mind-blowing 25,000 people. Towering over Old Delhi, the ‘Friday Mosque’ was Shah Jahan’s final architectural opus!!

Qutub Minar:

Qutb Minar, also written as Qutub Minar or Qutab Minar, is the 2nd tallest minar in India with an height of 73 miters. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site built by Qutab-ud-din Aibak immediately after the defeat of Delhi's last Hindu kingdom.

Jantar Mantar:

The most eccentric of Delhi’s historic sites, Jantar Mantar looks like an enormous abstract sculpture, but this odd collection of curving geometric buildings has a purpose – the monuments are carefully calibrated to monitor the movement of the stars and planets.

Jamali Kamali Mosque:

The unusual name of this piece of history finds its meaning in the names of two people for whom it was built, Shaikh Jamali Kamboh and his mate Kamali. A history lover like me can never get enough of the alluring secrets and mysteries buried inside this abandoned structure.
