The lessons to learnto bring your communities together

Communities ?You mean People interacting ?

No more communitieson media websites.

(Well, sometimes, some tools...)Comments

(Well, sometimes, some tools...)Poll

(Well, sometimes, some tools...)Fantasy games...

The truth is thatsocial media

[ie Social Networks]

have blown our mindsover the last 2 years !

The goal [...] was one million page views a month. [...] it was doing more than six times that number.

It works well...but not the way we thought.

Because being on social networksisn't a stand-alone solution.

Yoo-hoo !

A discussion ? Where ?

Only via RSS Feeds !

No discussion = no interaction = no community

At the end of the day = no audience

Communities are people,people exchange ideas,

then take part in the discussion !

Lesson 1Y# already know $at...

[same player shoot again. Sorry !]

First tweet ?

(and again rss feeds...)

Take your time,be there at the earliest stage.

If you open an account somewhereit's to say something.

Lesson 2

You can use social mediafor something else

than audience.

http://bit.ly/flickrguardian

Why ?. Easy to set up

. scalable

. using a tool that people are already using(easy for them to participate)

Well, 1 600 photos : not bad !

And at least one photo gallery

Does it work ?

But they could have done better@theguardian

Community is about sharing

in all the available ways

The Guardian asked people to send photos, but did The Guardian send its own photos

such as materials for bloggers for example ?

When you ask people to participateshare some of your own content too.

Lesson 3

Sometimes the buzz happens !

http://bit.ly/marcalendar

WOW !19 000 tweets 218 000 likes !

Source

44 million unique users(in June)

Create great news, tools, services, etc.,for your readers not for the stats.

They'll share them using social mediaif it's relevant.

Then your stats should rise.

Lesson 4

It's impossible to satisfy everyone

Innovation is the key,and it's (often) misunderstood

Lesson 5

Onemorething

Facebook, twitter, youtube, etc.did not even exist.

It seems that 2010was the year of Social media

What's next ?

Will Fifa be the place to share ?

Will only mobile devices be relevant ?

Geosocial networks ?

Live In-stadium experience via mobile ?

What if you geolocalise peopleinto the stadium and invite them

to a party after the game ?

Once an event is finished, start thinking of the next one

and make choices.
