CREATION OF HIERARCHIES (TIME-DEPENDENT HIERARCHY STRUCTURES & TIME-DEPENDENT ENTIRE HIERARCHY)

Hierarchy Structuresii. Time Dependent

Entire Hierarchy

1) TIME DEPENDENT HIERARCHY STRUCTURES

STEPS TO CREATE TIME DEPENDENT HIERARCHY STRUCTURE :Step 1 : To create hierarchy for Info

Object SALESREP2, we need to specify the hierarchies properties in the SALESREP2 definition. Go into the info object by double-clicking on the same. Click on edit option

Step 2 : Go to hierarchy tab, tick the check box ‘with hierarchies’. Choose the option ‘Time-Dependent Hierarchy Structure’

STEPS (CONTD.):

STEPS (CONTD.): Step 3 : Click on ‘External Chars. In

Hierarchies’ (as highlighted in above screen shot). In pop-up, choose the Info Objects, you will be using in the creation of hierarchy and click on continue. Check it and activate it

STEPS (CONTD.): Step 4 : In administration workbench,

modelling window, right click on the info object and then select ‘Create Hierarchy’

STEPS (CONTD.): Step 5 : Enter a name and description, then

click continue

STEPS (CONTD.): Step 6 : Click on the icon ‘Characteristics

Nodes’

STEPS (CONTD.): Step 7 : In the pop up, enter the Info Object

‘SALES_REG’ and click continue

Step 8 : Select the three regions, and then click continue

STEPS (CONTD.): Step 9 : Three regions are displayed under

SALES_REP_HIER. To assign each Sales office to each region, select one region and repeat the steps 6,7 (Enter SALES_OFF instead of SALES_REG) and 8. This pop up screen shows the sales offices available. Choose Denver, Los Angeles and Seattle will be assigned to West Region. Repeat the same procedure to add the respective sales offices to each other region. Since, Denver is already assigned to Midwest region, we will get a pop up message stating if we can duplicate the node. Choose ‘Copy duplicated node’ and then click to continue

STEPS (CONTD.): Step 10 : We will now need to specify the

valid date periods for Denver Office. Right click on Denver in the Mid west regions and then select Change node(s)

STEPS (CONTD.): Step 11 : Enter in Valid From and Valid To

dates and then click, Continue

STEPS (CONTD.): Step 12 : Repeat steps 10, 11 to specify the

valid dates for Denver office in the West Region

STEPS (CONTD.): Step 13 : Next, we will have to assign the

sales representatives to each sales office Select the first city Atlanta, right click and

choose the option ‘Sales Representative Insert’

STEPS (CONTD.): Step 14 : Assign the sales representative

accordingly to each sales office.

STEPS (CONTD.): Step 15 : In the modelling window of

Administration Workbench, right click on the newly created SALES_REP_HIER hierarchy and then select Activate

STEPS (CONTD.): Step 16 : As a result, we have created a Time

Dependent hierarchy structure The color of the created hierarchy will

change from gray to green.

TIME DEPENDENT ENTIRE HIERARCHY

STEPS TO CREATE TIME DEPENDENT ENTIRE HIERARCHY : Step 1 : Create a new Info Object SALES_REP

called SALESREP3. In hierarchy tab, check the box ‘with hierarchies’, choose “Entire hierarchy is time-dependent” & give the “External Chars.”

STEPS (CONTD.) : Add the Sales Region & Sales Office as

external characteristics. Click to continue.Activate

STEPS (CONTD.) : Step 2 : Select ‘Create Hierarchy’ from the

Info Object menu

STEPS (CONTD.) : Step 3 : Specify the valid dates and then

continue

STEPS (CONTD.) : Step 3 : Like how we created levels

with Sales Region, Sales office, Sales Rep for time-dependent hierarchy structure, we must follow the same procedure.

Just ensure that in the time period 1.1.1000 to 31.12.1999, Denver city comes under ‘Mid-West’ region

Between time period 1.1.2000 to 31.12.9999, Denver city comes under ‘West’ region

Finally, we will have to create two separate hierarchies

STEPS (CONTD.) : Step 5 : Hierarchy for period 1.1.1000 to

31.12.1999

STEPS (CONTD.): Step 6 : Hierarchy 2

STEPS (CONTD.): Step 7 : Hierarchy for period 1.1.2000 to

31.12.9999

STEPS (CONTD.): Step 8 : Please note the two hierarchies,

each has an associated date
