Fastback Networks Delivering on the Promise of Freedom of Location

2

• Founded in 2010 • Headquartered in San Jose, CA • 40 patents issued/pending • Funded by:

– Matrix Partners – Foundation Capital – Granite Venture – Harmony Partners – Juniper Networks

• Over 10,000 Units deployed with Tier 1 Mobile Operators (Macro & Small Cell)

More Speed, More Places

Fastback Networks Confidential & Proprietary Information

The Small Cell Challenge

• Goal – Cost effective cellular capacity and coverage where needed

• Requirements – Seamless operation with existing Macro Network

– Fill-in coverage and capacity gaps

– Supports location flexibility

– Low-cost (TCO/ROI)

3

Why Wireless?

4

• Limited availability of Fiber/Ethernet/Broadband where capacity and coverage is needed

• Cost to deploy fiber/Ethernet/Broadband where it is needed

• Speed to deploy

• Multitude of mount locations and types

• Long term TCO/ROI

• 5.XGhz can work in NLOS and nLOS situations, support twist & sway of street level mount resources

Network Densification – the Challenge

5

• Cellular base stations will migrate from towers and rooftops to street level

Lessons Learned

12

• Need a rich tool-box of solutions

• TCO/ROI of Wireless is generally superior

• Training of the install team is critical

• Each municipality will offer unique challenges and opportunities – very difficult to establish cookie-cutter approach

• NLOS is not a science, but getting easier to predict
