• If you are asked to make a 3-panel brochure, here are a few things you should know…

Your TemplateYour Template• I created a template

for you to easily “fill in the blanks” instead of starting from scratch.

• It already includes the text boxes you need along with instructions on what to put in these text boxes.

• Here’s how to save it:

Go to class project page.Go to class project page.

Once you’re here, scroll down to Social Studies: 7th Grade, and click “Middle Passage & Slavery Brochure.”

Once you’re here, click “Publisher Template.”

Click this link first, then click Save in the pop-up window.

Click the pull-down arrow and select “My Documents” as the destination. Then click “Save.”

• Double-click “My Documents” and find the new document you just downloaded called “Middle Passage Template.”

• You may want to change the “theme” or design layout from the one that I used—– Do this FIRST (before you start typing in

information or adding photos).– Changing the layout/colors may affect the

placement of text boxes, etc. So it’s better to do that before you have actual info. in the text boxes.

– Click “Brochure Options” and/or “Color Schemes” in the gray area at the left.

By clicking Brochure Options, you’ll have new designs to choose from.

• Publisher wants you to see the whole page at once, but that means that the font may be difficult to read.

• To enlarge the document, just click either the magnifying glass with a plus sign in it or select a % greater than 66%.

• A 3-panel brochure has 2 pages.• Small 1 and 2 in lower left corner of

document.• Page 1 includes the cover page, but

it is actually “last” or furthest to the right.

• This looks “wrong,” but trust me—it’s right! It will be perfect once it’s printed out and folded.
