WHAT MICROSOFT SUGGESTS

@NAVUG 8

WHAT HAPPENS MOST OF THE TIME IN REAL LIFE

Re-implementation

@NAVUG 9

WHY WE WENT DOWN TO THE RE-IMPLEMENTATION ROUTE

1. Re-think the business procedures and operations2. Easier because of the configuration packages3. Less requirement for bespoke functionality4. Increase database performance – transfer opening balances only5. No ISV add-on solutions

@NAVUG 10

WHEN IS AN UPGRADE BETTER THAN A RE-IMPLEMENTATION?

1. Highly bespoke application – More than 150 hours of customisations

2. Multiple or large ISV add-on solutions3. Current version is close to the latest release e.g.

NAV 2015 to NAV 20164. Business operations and procedures remain

unchanged

AREAS WHERE YOU CAN POTENTIALLY INCREASE PERFORMANCE TO YOUR NAV ENVIRONMENT

WORKFLOWS

You can set up and use workflows that connect business-process tasks performed by different users. System tasks, such as automatic posting, can be included as steps in workflows, preceded or followed by user tasks. Requesting and granting approval to create new records are typical workflow steps.

@NAVUG 16

ELECTRONIC DOCUMENTS

The generic version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV supports receiving electronic invoices and credit memos in the PEPPOL format, which is supported by the largest providers of document exchange services

@NAVUG 17

POSTING PREVIEW

On every document and journal that can be posted, you can choose the Preview Posting button to review the different types of entries that will be created when you post the document or journal.

@NAVUG 18

MICROSOFT SOCIAL ENGAGEMENT

Microsoft Dynamics NAV integrates with Microsoft Social Engagement and can be made available on customers, vendors, and items. You set up Microsoft Social Engagement for a specific record to monitor and collect data based on specific search criteria on different types of social media.

@NAVUG 19

UNIVERSAL APP ON ALL YOUR DEVICES

The app displaying the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Tablet client and Microsoft Dynamics NAV Phone client is targeted at users in small and medium sized businesses that want to access data from a tablet or a phone. Some of the advantages of offering this solution are portability and flexibility, when the user is away from the desk, on the train, between meetings, passing time and so on.

@NAVUG 20

CREATE A MAINTENANCE PLAN

Maintenance plans create a workflow of the tasks required to make sure that your database is optimized, regularly backed up, and free of inconsistencies. The Maintenance Plan Wizard also creates core maintenance plans, but creating plans manually gives you much more flexibility.

@NAVUG 21
