It is mere impossible to imagine life without Google, Facebook or Twitter. But, 25 years ago internet was a hard reality. The March 12, 1989 is a big day when the worthy idea World Wide Web was born.

Tim Berners Lee was the mind behind it. This invention has changed the world so much and made the life of people smarter and smoother.

History & Evolution of Web

• Tim Berners lee was a British scientist at CERN

• Originally web was invented to meet the demand for automatic information sharing between scientists and institutes globally.

• The first website was developed at CERN to access other documents and to set up individual server

• The first browser was created for Mac computers.

What is a browser

• It allows user to view data on the web

• Without it, the web is lifeless

• Recent browser’s are Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome, Mozilla, etc.

The era of 1990’s

• In December 1991, the first web server out of Europe was installed

• With the launch of Mosaic browser in 1993, the installation and browsing was possible in ordinary PCs or computers.

• To raise its use, CERN released the open license with basic browser & library codes

• By the end of 1994, it raised the users to about 10 million

• HTML was developed in 1991 to create text based websites

Development between 1995-2000

• The web improvement was met with advancement in browsers, technology, flash and graphical superiority of websites.

• HTML improved that made a website advanced in fonts, text, images and tables

• JavaScript, Ajax and dynamic HTML developed to make sites friendlier

Modern Period – 21st Century

• Significant improvements in web technology

• Vast increase in potential users

• Improved browsers – Mozilla, Google Chrome

• Advanced techniques CSS3, HTML5
