In 2012, over ¾ of the U.S.’s population will be online. Over 114 million will be mobile internet users, with 106.7 million Smartphone users. Almost 2/3 of web users will be on social media.

There are over 800 million active Facebook users. Over 200 million of those were added in 2011.

As the web’s most visited site, Americans spend more time on Facebook than any other US website. More than half of FB users log in every day. The average user has 130 friends and is connected to 80 pages, events, or groups.

It is said if you post at least once every day, you will reach at least 22% of their fans a week. The average FB user spends 20 minutes on their account during each visit, logging on 3-4 times a week.

Over 80 % of all Americans use social networking.

91% of American adults access some sort of social media each month. 98% of 18-24 year olds access S.M. accounts monthly.

1/5 users visit another S.M. site after leaving one. That is why it is important to integrate SM with website and email. 40% access their social media accounts through mobile devices. 70% of updates are made from a mobile device.

Almost 23% of online time is spent on social networks.

Americans spend around 13 hours a week online.

Social Media users are more active offline

45% more likely to go on a date. 47% more likely to spend more on clothing, shoes, and accessories. 53% of active social networkers follow brands.
