DESCRIPTION
Part of a panel discussion at the 2011 Massachusetts Association of Planning Directors conference in New Bedford, this presentation offers tips and tools for urban planning project outreach and audience engagement, including using your networks, traditional messaging such as flyers on community bulletin boards, and newer tools such as social media, Google Earth, outreach in multiple languages, and immersive gaming to simulate neighborhood conditions and planning alternatives. The original presentation included a Google Earth video clip, a clip from the Participatory Chinatown video game/community planning project, and Public Service Announcements audio clips for an environmental awareness campaign in Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, and English.
