DIFFERENT MECHANISMS
RACK PINION MECHANISM
SPRING COIL MECHANISM
CRANK SHAFT MECHANISM
ROLLER MECHANISM
WHY RACK-PINION MECHANISM?
Crank-shafts are required to be mounted on bearings which creates balancingproblem leading to mechanical vibrations which in turn damage the bearings.
Rack-Pinion assembly gives good mounting convenience .
Maximum gear losses– 3 to 5%
Efficiency– 95%.
ALTERNATOR An Electric Generator is a machine which is
used for converting mechanical energy to electrical energy.
The output of alternator is used to light the street lights and is rectified and is stored in batteries.
MERITS AND USES
LOW BUDGET ELECTRICITY PRODUCTION.
LESS FLOOR AREA.
NO OBSTRUCTION TO TRAFFIC.
EASY MAINTAINENCE.
SUITABLE AT PARKING OF MULTIPLEXES, MALLS, TOLLBOOTHS, SIGNALS.
CAN BE USED FOR CHARGING BATTERIES & USING THEM TO LIGHT UP STREET LIGHTS.
ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGES
Advantages:.
Eco Friendly.
Cost is less.
Low budget electricity production.
Disadvantages:
Difficult to implement.
FUTURE SCOPE
Such speed breakers can be designed for heavy vehicles, thus increasing input torque and ultimately output of generator.
More suitable and compact mechanism to enhance efficiency.
