The Problem

Complex data structures with multiple users

Complex physical supply chains

The Solution?

Labels, Barcodes and RFID of Course!

35 years of Barcodes!

“I invented the barcode!”

Sorry, Mr. Gore – Intermec seems to have beaten you to it!

And a team at Drexel patented atype of barcode in 1952

2D Barcodes are Everywhere

Datamatrix for Industry

Why Data Matrix?• Withstands the harshest environment• Damage up to 20%+ of the symbol and recover 100%• Size is only limited by fidelity of marker• Can contain 100 times the data as the same space as a

linear bar code• Can be read omni-directionally

The Voice!

Hello??

2D Barcodes enable items to talk to us!

• What is it?• Who made it?• How much is it worth?• Where is it?• Where has it been?• Where is it going?• Does it need maintenance?

• Is it under warranty?• Has it expired?• Has it been recalled?

• Is it counterfeit?

Globally Unique ItemsUID is set of data elements marked on an item that is globally unique.

Universal Product Code (UPC)Two cans of Coke form the same plant will show the same data on the UPC

Serial Number TrackingSerial numbers are unique, but not outside of their enterprise. The serial numbers from one company can be the same as another company.

Unique IdentificationEach item has its own Globally Unique Identifier (UII)

Digital VoiceThe Globally Unique ID, plus backend database lets the label speak!
