HISTORY BEHIND SIXTH SENSE

UNVEILED….

-In earlier 1990’s Steve Mann at MIT proposed 1st wearable computer.

-At very start Steve invented a head worn type model in 1994’s and then came with new idea of wearing it as like an pendant in 1998.

-Further Pranav Mistry who is a PhD student in the Fluid Interfaces Group at MIT Media Lab.

In the first article by ARJUN KR on sixth sense says that earlier Mistry started working with a big projector placed on a helmet, But it proved very cumbersome.

So Mistry switched up to to a new model which has a small projector to be worn as like a pendant around the neck.

Recent prototype (Pendant Model)

Initial Idea of WUW -”Wear your World” was the name first proposed for this

by Pranav Mistry, Pattie Maes and Liyan Chang.-Mistry tried up with simple computer mouse first he put

two roller into one mouse and see if he could obtain data and guide movement of mouse when two rollers not worked properly he took 4 rollers. Four rollers gave him the idea that he could use same idea on fingers and that what he next moved on.

ADVANTAGES-It is a portable technology.-It is cheaper i.e. cost effective only 300$.-It doesn’t require any basic knowledge about

keyboard and mouse to get accessed.-It has an open source code.-It’s interfacing doesn’t confines just into mobile

or PC display.

DISADVANTAGES-Needs more power usage.

-Hardware limitations of devices.-Projection is better at dark light.-Privacy is the major concern of this device.-Dangerous for human health.-It recognize the information about any object

which is not safe in some manner.

Future use of Sixth Sense-To get rid of colour markers and hand use, easily used

by voice recognition.-Sixth sense with holographic visualizes the better

world.-3D visualization and gesture tracking.-Camera can act as a eye for blind people as a fifth

sense for them.-Also the people those who can speak sixth sense can

help them its installing digital system in to our body

Future is not away…

CONCLUSION

-Interact with the information via natural hand gestures and enables you the whole world at your fingertips-literally!

-Transparency between user interface for accessing information about everything around us and this is classified under wearable computing.

-Recognize the object and give information about it and give freedom to access.
