THE DANGERS OF QUITTING

Mark 3:13-15 (NIV) Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him

those he wanted, and they came to him. He appointed twelve--

designating them apostles--that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach and to have

authority to drive out demons.

2 MAJOR CALLINGS

1. WALK WITH GOD2. WORK WITH GOD

QUITTING IS NOT A KINGDOM

VIRTUE

Revelation 3:21 (NIV) To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with

me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his

throne."

WHAT ARE SOME CONSEQUENCES

IF YOU QUIT?

i. You will lose the blessing

ii. You will always carry

guilt and sorrow

Mark 10:22 (NIV) At this the man's face fell. He went away

sad, because he had great wealth.

iii. You will suffer shame

iv. You will be a bad example

v. You will become like the pagans

vi. You will lose the

presence of God

vii. You cancel your inheritance

THINGS THAT YOU NEED TO HAVE IN ORDER NOT TO BE

A QUITTER

1. DIVINE REVELATIONS

John 6:66-67 (NLT) At this point many of his disciples

turned away and deserted him. Then Jesus turned to the

Twelve and asked, "Are you going to leave, too?"

John 6:68-69 (NLT) Simon Peter replied, "Lord, to whom would we go? You alone have the words that give eternal

life. We believe them, and we know you are the Holy One of

God."

2. ALWAYS LOOK TO JESUS

Hebrews 12:2 (NIV) Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author

and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him

endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the

right hand of the throne of God.

3. UNDERSTAND THAT QUITTING IS

MORE COSTLY THAN PERSEVERING

4. ALWAYS HAVE THAT ABILITY TO BOUNCE BACK IF

YOU FALL

Proverbs 24:16 (NIV) ...for though a righteous man

falls seven times, he rises again, but the wicked are

brought down by calamity.

John Mark QuitsActs 13:13 (NIV) From Paphos, Paul and his companions sailed to Perga in Pamphylia,

where John left them to return to Jerusalem.

John Mark submits to a leader

Acts 15:36-37 (NIV) Some time later Paul said to Barnabas, "Let us go back and visit the brothers

in all the towns where we preached the word of the Lord and

see how they are doing." Barnabas wanted to take John, also called Mark, with them,

John Mark is now a mature leader

2 Timothy 4:9-11 (NIV) Do your best to come to me quickly, for Demas, because he loved this world, has

deserted me and has gone to Thessalonica. Crescens has gone to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia. Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring

him with you, because he is helpful to me in my ministry.

5. DELETE QUITTING IN YOUR MIND

John 4:34 (NIV) "My food," said Jesus, "is to do the will of him who

sent me and to finish his work.

1 Corinthians 9:24 (NIV) Do you not know that in a race all the runners run,

but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as

to get the prize.

1 Corinthians 9:25-26 (NIV) Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training.

They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do

not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man

beating the air.

YOU ARE A WINNER!
