Reclaim the Inner Child

At the core of our being is a little kid who believes that he is unworthy and unlovable.

It is through having the courage and willingness to revisit the emotional “dark night of the soul” that was our childhood that we can start to understand on a gut level why we have lived our lives as we have.

The Inner Child

The king/Queen Baby

( I want what I want and I want it now”)

The serious child

• The child component in the person who never got to be a child – who had to be an

adult from early age

The Rebel

• The wonderful strong part of us that has helped us to survive and needs to be honored and praised

• But can get us in trouble because he wants to rebel against any advice or direction including good/healthy feedback, and can be very stubborn (I’ll show you, ill get even.”)

The Romantic

• The idealistic, dreamer, lover, creative part of us that is a wonderful asset when kept in balance

• Can lead to disastrous consequences when allowed to be in control of choices.

• Not good on taking responsible action, would rather daydream about fairy tales and fantasies than deal with reality.

The Deprived, wounded lonely child

Desperately needy, clingy, wants to be rescued and taken care of

Doesn’t want to set boundaries for fear of being abandoned.

It is very important to own, nurture and love this part of ourselves because not relating to this part of us can be disastrous.

Inner Child Healing Techniques

Start paying attention to our inner child. Our emotional wounds have been dictating our lives and keeping use from loving ourselves.

Inner Child Healing

• Honor the child’s feelings without buying into the illusion that it matches the adult’s reality.

Inner Child Healing

• Open a dialog and actually talk to the child in us. We need to be a loving parent who can hear the child’s voice within us.

Inner Child Healing • Grief process – the path to forgiveness and

love; it is releasing the repressed emotional energy that blocks our inner channel to God.

Inner Child Healing

• It is important to nurture ourselves to bring out the loving adults in us – the one who understands delayed gratification.

Inner Child Healing

• We can learn to be responsible adults who can be a loving parent to the wounded child in us. It is a lot of work and it takes time
