Moses Refused (v24)

Moses Chose (v25)
• ‘Chose’ – ‘haireō’ to prefer, to choose • He chose to be mistreated• He chose the people of God • We should choose the people of God • He saw that sin’s pleasures are limited
Moses Regarded (v26)
• ‘‘Regarded’ – ‘hēgeomai’ to consider, deem, account, think
• ‘Disgrace for the sake of Christ’ • Christ is active in the Old Testament
(1 Corinthians 10:24)• Christ identifies with his suffering people

Moses Persevered (v27)
• ‘Persevered’ – ‘kartereō’ to be steadfast• The events leading up to the Exodus may have
taken many months• He felt inadequate • Many visits to Pharaoh• Weakness of his own people
Moses Saw (v27)
• ‘Saw’ – ‘horaō’ to see with the eyes, to see with the mind, to perceive, know, to see, i.e. become acquainted with by experience, to experience
• ‘He was looking ahead to his reward’• ‘as seeing Him who is unseen’ (NASV)• ‘Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and
certain of what we do not see’ (11:1)
Moses Saw (v27)
• ‘Let us fix our eyes on Jesus’ (12:2)• “Because you have seen me, you have believed;
blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” (John 20:29)
Moses Kept (v28)
• ‘Kept’ – ‘poieō’ to do or to make • The Passover points to the cross • Nothing in Moses’ experience pointed to the
Passover • He obeyed the word of God
Moses Passed Through (v29)
• The Egyptians were at least as brave as the Israelites
• The Israelites walked by faith • There was no other way
