Day 6

The Civil Rights Memorial at the Southern Poverty Law Center was designed by Maya Lin, designer of the Viet Nam Memorial. The memorial is engraved with the names of those who died in the civil rights movement during the time period between the Brown v. Board decision in 1954 and the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King in 1968 and MLK’s paraphrase of Amos 5:24 – We will not be satisfied … until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.

The only church where Martin Luther King, Jr., was the lead pastor.

Dexter Parsonage Museum Where Dr. and Mrs. King lived while in Montgomery, AL
