GOD PROMISES US SALVATIONIsrael’s infidelities did not deter

God from assuring them of the salvation He promised. It only shows that God is faithful and

constant in His love.

GOD PROMISES US SALVATION

All throughout our lives, we make promises. Sadly, we make promises easily, but oftentimes

we do not keep them.

GOD PROMISES US SALVATION

All throughout our lives, we make promises. Sadly, we make promises easily, but oftentimes

we do not keep them.

GOD PROMISES US SALVATION

For God, a promise is sacred, therefore it should be faithfully

fulfilled.

GOD PROMISES US SALVATION

God’s promise of salvation is found in Genesis 3:15. In this passage, God told the serpent, “I will make you enemies, you and the woman, your offspring and her offspring. He will

crush your head and you will strike his heel.”

GOD PROMISES US SALVATION

This passage is called “Proto-evangelium.” Proto – “first”Evangelium – “good news.”Proto-evangelium then simply means “first gospel.”

It is the first announcement of the Messiah and Redeemer, of the battle between the serpent and

the woman, and of the final victory of a descendant of hers.

GOD PROMISES US SALVATION

The “woman” referred to in this

passage is the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Mary is called the “new Eve.”

GOD PROMISES US SALVATION

This title is given to Mary because just as Eve, the

first woman “gave birth” in a way to the introduction of sin to the world, Mary, as the “new Eve” has given birth to Jesus who will

redeem the world.

GOD PROMISES US SALVATION

The passage is simply saying that Jesus, will overcome evil in the world. Thus, by this

passage, God shows that even if man disobeyed

Him, “he was not abandoned by God.

GOD PROMISES US SALVATION

“On the contrary, God calls him and in a mysterious way

heralds the coming victory over evil and his restoration from his fall” (CCC 410)

GOD PROMISES US SALVATION

Despite the fact that man committed sin, it is still God who keeps on calling him to come back; promising him salvation. Through Jesus Christ, God does not only

speaks to man but seeks him out.

GOD PROMISES US SALVATION

Man allowed himself to be led away by God’s

enemy and to live in sin. God would like to persuade man to

overcome evil which is everywhere.
