How to use IFTTT

(If This Then That)

FIRST THINGS FIRST

IFTTT is a web-based tool

that allows communication

between apps…

For example:

These are called applets

It’s an automation service

that will perform task to save

you time

Applets work by connecting

two services

IF THIS THEN THAT

THIS = Trigger Service

THAT = Action Service

Services are apps / programs / software

/ etc. compatible

with IFTTT

For example:

Trigger service

Action service

REMEMBER:

IFTTT will need your permission

to access your apps.

Ready?

Let’s start by creating an

account on www.ifttt.com

Step One: Open your

Internet Browser

Click on the Start Menu

Select your Internet Browser

And your browser is now open

Step Two: Go to

www.IFTTT.com on your

browser

Go to your search bar

Type in www.ifttt.com

And press Enter

And you are now here

Step Three: Sign up for

an account

Click Sign up

Type in your Email Address

Type in your Password

Click Sign up

You are now signed in

Step Four: Know what’s

on the website

You have three tabs

you can go to on the

website

and My Applets

You are currently on Discover

On this page, you

can see the most

popular applets on

the siteBy: Jamil Donor - 2016

Scrolling down, you

will see a list of

recommended

applets that you

If you see an applet

that you like…

Just click on it

It will tell you

a little more

about the

applet…

If you want it, click Turn on

The green

circle means it’s on

Again, IFTTT will need your

permission for the applet to work

Click OK to give IFTTT permission

Or if you don’t like this applet, click decline

IFTTT may ask you

for more information

depending on what

applet you choose

Step Five: Know how

to search in IFTTT

Back to Discover…

Click on Search

Type in the search box what service or appletyou want

Then click the search icon

Or just press ENTER

Step Six: Search by

categories

The search page lets

you see the applets

in categories

These categorized services are recommended for you

If you scroll down…

These are services categorized in general

There are 42

categories to choose

To chose a category…

Simply click on it

And you will see the services and appletsunder that category

click on the service you want

And it will show you applets for it

Give IFTTT permission to connect first

click on the applet you like

Then click

Turn on

If you want to see all

the services in each

category…

Scroll down to the very bottom from the

search page…

And click All services

And it will show you all the services under each category

The categories are sorted alphabetically

When you find a

service you want…

Click on the service

Choose an applet

Then click

Turn on

Again, If IFTTT asks for your permission,

click okay

Step Seven: Learn

about “My Applets”

Click on My Applets

On this page, you will

see all the applets that

you use, or have

previously used

The colored applets are active

The gray-colored applets are turned-off

If you have not yet

turned on any applet

at all, then this page

would be empty

Step Eight: Learn how

to customize your

applets

Click on an applet you want to customize

Click the gear icon to access the settings

Here you can see

what you can

change about the applet

Description

Click and type to change

Notification

Click the circle to turn on/off

White Circle is OFF

Green Circle is ON

Trigger Service

This tells you when

the action service will start

This is a description of the Action Service

Action Service

Here are things you can change in the

action service

Options are different depending

on what service is involved

If you are happy with your

changes, click save

If you no longer want this applet,

just click Delete

Step Nine: Create your

own Applet

Go to My Applets and click New Applet

Click “this”

Choose a Service from the list below

Scroll down for more options

Or just type the name of a service

Then click the service you choose

Choose a trigger from the list below

Click “that”

Choose an Action Service from the list below

Or just type the name of a service

Then click the service you choose

Choose the action you want to happen

Click to customize

When your done, click Create action

Check if applet if correct

Click if you want to receive notifications

The green means notifications is on

If done, scroll down and click Finish

And you are done!
