Objectives

• Introduce the students to the American tradition of making cookies for Halloween.

• At the end of the activity, students were familiar with measurements, names for ingredients and directions for completing the task.

Methodology

• Students were first introduced to the recipe and new vocabulary. Emphasis was placed on pronunciation and comprehension (One class period)

• After the vocabulary was mastered, cookies were made in class in groups of fifteen. (One class period)

• Cookies were decorated and taken home. (One class period).

Sugar Cookie RecipeIngredients:• 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour• 1 teaspoon baking soda• 1/2 teaspoon baking powder• 1 cup butter, softened• 1 1/2 cups white sugar• 1 egg• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 190 Degrees Celsius 2. Mix: Flour, Baking Soda and Baking Powder3. Mix: Butter and Sugar4. Add Egg and Vanilla5. Mix all ingredients

together6. Bake for 8-10 minutes
