SCIENCE AND

TECHNOLOGY

CLASS-9TH BROLL NO.-19

WHAT IS SCIENCE• Science is a systematic enterprise that builds and

organizes knowledge in the form of testable explanations and predictions about the universe.

• Contemporary science is typically subdivided into the natural sciences, which study the material universe; the social sciences, which study people and societies; and the formal sciences, such as mathematics. The formal sciences are often excluded as they do not depend on empirical observations. Disciplines which use science like engineering and medicine may also be considered to be applied sciences.

WHAT IS TECHNOLOGY• Technology is the collection of techniques, skills,

methods and processes used in the production of goods or services or in the accomplishment of objectives, such as scientific investigation. Technology can be the knowledge of techniques, processes, etc. or it can be embedded in machines, computers, devices and factories, which can be operated by individuals without detailed knowledge of the workings of such things.

FEATURES OF SCINCE • Learning new facts• Inventing new things

FEATURES OF TECHNOLOGY

• It is the innovation, change, or modification of the natural environment in order to satisfy perceived human wants and needs.

• The goal of technology is to make modifications in the world to meet human needs.

• Technology is the process by which humans modify nature to meet their needs and wants.

Difference Between Science And Technology

SCIENCE• Deals with the natural

world.• Is very concerned with what

is (exists) in the natural world. (i.e.: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Astronomy, Geology, etc

TECHNOLOGY• Deals with how humans

modify, change, alter, or control the natural world.

• Is very concerned with what can or should be designed, made, or developed from natural world materials and substances to satisfy human needs and wants

ADVANTAGES OF TECHNOLOGY AND SCIENCE

1. The Information Highway2. Prepares Has the potential to

lower textbook and tuition prices .

3. Allows teachers to create an exciting way to educate students students for the future.

DISADVANTAGES OF TECHNOLOGY AND SCIENCE

1. Results in a lack of interest in studying.2. Makes students vulnerable to potential

pitfalls3. Can diminish overall value of in-person

education

Different Branches of

Science

BIOLOGY Biology is the study of living

things. A scientist who is an expert in the study of biology is called a biologist

CHEMISTRYChemistry

- is the science of the composition structure, properties, and reaction of matter. A scientist who is an expert in the study of chemistry is called chemist

AstronomyAstronomy

- is the study of the heavenly bodies . A scientist who is an expert in the study of astronomy is called astronomer.

PHYSICSPhysics

- is the science of matter and energy and the interaction between them. An expert in the study of physics is called a physicist

DIFFERENT TECNOLOGCAL

GADGETS

SAMART PHONE• A Smartphone is a mobile phone with an

advanced mobile operating system which combines features of a personal computer operating system with other features useful for mobile or handheld use.

• Smartphone's, which are usually pocket-sized, typically combine the features of a cell phone, such as the ability to receive and make phone calls and text messages, with those of other popular digital mobile devices.

COMPUTER• A computer is a machine (mostly

electronic) that is able to take information (input), do some work on or make changes to the information (process), to make new information (output). Computers have existed for much of human history. Examples of early computers are the astrolabe and the abacus. There are four main processing steps in a computer, and they are: inputting, outputting, storage and processing.

LAPTOP• A laptop, often called a notebook or

"notebook computer", is a small, portable personal computer with a "clamshell" form factor, an alphanumeric keyboard on the lower part of the "clamshell" and a thin LCD or LED computer screen on the upper portion, which is opened up to use the computer. Laptops are folded shut for transportation, and thus are suitable for mobile use.[1] Although originally there was a distinction between laptops and notebooks, the former being bigger and heavier than the latter, as of 2014, there is often no longer any difference.[2] Laptops are commonly used in a variety of settings, such as at work, in education, and for personal multimedia and home computer use.

INTERNET• The Internet is the global system of

interconnected computer networks that use the Internet protocol suite (TCP/IP) to link billions of devices worldwide. It is a network of networks that consists of millions of private, public, academic, business, and government networks of local to global scope, linked by a broad array of electronic, wireless, and optical networking technologies. The Internet carries an extensive range of information resources and services, such as the inter-linked hypertext documents and applications of the World Wide Web (WWW), electronic mail, voice over IP telephony, and peer-to-peer networks for file sharing.
