WHAT IS GEO-ENVIRONMENT?

• "Geo-environmental science, combining Geography and Environmental Science, focus on spatial phenomenon, which providing a unique viewpoint on changes in the human-physical environment that will shape our future. From rapid changes in the tropical rain forest to the changes in local climate dynamics that surely are increasing global temperature. This study addressing fundamental challenges in physical, environmental and social science and employ remote sensing and GIS as powerful tools."

WHAT IS GEOGRAPHY?• Geography is the study of places and the relationships between people and their environments. Geographers explore both the physical properties of Earth’s surface and the human societies spread across it. They also examine how human culture interacts with the natural environment, and the way that locations and places can have an impact on people. Geography seeks to understand where things are found, why they are there, and how they develop and change over time

WHAT IS GEO-LITERACY?• Geo-literacy is the term that National Geographic has adopted to describe the understanding of how our world works that all members of modern society require. Geo-literacy is the ability to reason about Earth systems and interconnections to make far-reaching decisions. Whether we are making decisions about where to live or what precautions to take for natural hazards, we all make decisions that require geo-literacy throughout our lives

LET'S EXPLORE OUR GEO-ENVIRONMENT TO INCREASE OUR

GEO-LITERACY!

MISSIONS!

• Meet your vegetables and fruits!

• Map your "Halal" meals!

• Welcome map: GIS Manager wanna be!

• Land use extractions: Remote Sensing Analysts!

• Meet your vegetables and fruits!

• Find out where your vegetables and fruits come from

• Interview 3 shops (Usami, Satoh, & Ohta) to discover how they get the vegetables and fruits; transportations, distance, etc

• Are there any products produced within 50 km of the shop? Are there any renewable energy used in transportations system?, etc

• Map your "Halal" meals!

• Make one recipe contains "Halal" ingredients

• Find out where your "Halal" ingredients come from

• Research all types of transportation used to get "Halal" meals across the world to reach your mouth

• Welcome map: GIS Manager wanna be!

• Land use extractions: Remote Sensing Analysts!

• Find out different land use around Aoba-ku (Built-up area, vegetation, water bodies, etc)

• Take photos in 8 direction plus up-and-down-side. What things come into view?

• Mark the coordinate using handheld GPS of every point

• Analyse your photo, and answer the following questions; How might it change in the future? How does the place change in different weather conditions?
