Cases for Slide Seminar on Cardiothoracic Pathology

55yr old female with a solitary nodule in the right posterior segment of lung which was incidentally identified on chest X-ray. Enucleation done.

Case 1

24 year old female presented with complaints of fever, cough and left sided chest pain. Patient was treated for left lower lobe pneumonia, but no response. Chest X- ray showed a homogenous round lobulated opacity in left middle and lower lobe.

Left pneumonectomy was done

Case 2

25 year old female with recurrent episodes of pneumothorax. X- ray chest : left sided pneumothorax and cystic lesion right side. Lung biopsy and bullectomy done.

Case 3

42 year old male with history of dyspnoea and haemoptysis. Right upper and middle lobectomy done.

Case 4

62 yr old male with h/o cough with expectoration – 7 months and intermittent fever. Right upper lobectomy specimen

Case 5

24 yr old female presented with breathing difficulty and cough since 2 wks with 2 episodes of hemoptysis. Chest X- ray : Mass lesion left upper zone. Lobectomy specimen.

Case 6

56 yr old male with fatigue and significant weight loss. Evaluated outside and found to have a pleural based mass. Received adjuvant chemotherapy. Referred for excision of the mass.

Case 7

22 year old female with a left atrial lesion. Excision biopsy

Case 8

37 year old male with an incidental finding of abnormal heart sound. No chest pain / palpitation/ dyspnoea/ syncope. Echo cardiogram showed a pedunculated mass in the left ventricle. Excision biopsy done.

Case 9

28 year old female presented with dyspnea on exertion and massive pericardial effusion. Pericardial biopsy done.

Case 10

40 yr old female with a posterior mediastinal mass. Excision biopsy done

Case 11

Female 42 yrs, presented with history of chest discomfort, breathlessness and diplopia of 2wks duration. CT – Middle mediastinal mass. Excision biopsy.

Case 12

42 yr old male with history of fever for 10days, custody death and autopsy done. Section from heart.

Case 13

24 yr old female. Maternal death at term.

Case 14

67 yr old male admitted with coronary heart disease. X- ray – coin shadow in the upper lobe of right lung.
