Advanced Android EspressoDo you test? It’s okay if you don’t - historically the tools had not been stellar. But they have gotten much better, and I am going to show you my favorite, instrumentation testing with Espresso.
In this talk you will learn:
• The basic structure of an Espresso test (Matcher, ViewAction, ViewAssertion) • Combining matchers such as withParent, isAssignableFrom to find your view • onData and RecyclerViewActions to test ListView and RecyclerView • Custom ViewAction and ViewAssertion • Using Dagger and Mockito to write repeatable tests
By the end of the talk you will be itching to write some tests yourself!

Evolutionary Algorithms: Perfecting the Art of "Good Enough"
Evolutionary algorithms let us tackle all kinds of impossible problems. Want to design a short delivery route, but there are more possible solutions than atoms in the universe? Well, evolutionary algorithms can't promise to find the optimal solution, but can guarantee finding a pretty great one. I'll give an overview of these algorithms, and how you can use them for your own impossible problems.

Evolutionary Algorithms: Perfecting the Art of "Good Enough"Liz Sander is a Ph.D. candidate studying ecology at the University of Chicago, where she uses data science to study and make predictions about ecological networks. She also attended the Recurse Center, where she studied everything from machine learning to database ORMs to Prolog. When she's not writing code or papers, she's usually playing tabletop RPGs or hanging upside down on a trapeze. You can find her writing on heuristic optimization algorithms, and other topics in programming, at www.lizsander.com.
