Criterion-Referenced Test• Is Measuring a student’s performance based on

mastery of a specific set of skills. • Called mastery tests, compare a person's

performance to a set of objectives. Anyone who meets the criterion can get a high score.

Examples

CRT’s Purposes• To know the specific skills which have achieved.• To know how far students’ ability.

Norm-Referenced Test

• Is measuring a student’s performance in comparison to the performance of same-age students on the same assessment.

• Is comparing a person’s score against the scores of similar group who have taken the same exam

• compare an individual's performance with the performance of others.

Examples • California Achievement Test (CAT)• Stanford Achievement Test (SAT)• American College Testing (ACT)• etc.

NRT’s Purpose• To rank the achievement of the students.• To discriminate between high and low achievers.
