Screen grabs of my college magazine

from the making of my front cover & contents page

Designing the masthead

The above texts were the other possible fonts for my mast head, but I chose my masthead to be that particual font, because it stood out and also seemed like a “cool” font which would stand out to my target audience of college students. I then turned the “Buzz” bit on the side to add interest and give the front cover a bit of edge.

Making my front cover

Slogo:

I chose my slogo to be “Your FREE weekly student mag!” because it instantly stands out to the reader by exadurating that it is free, which college students would like, as they are often on a tight budget. Also it shortens the word “magazine” to “mag” to show the magazine to be “cool”.

I cropped the image to fit on the cover better, without loosing a lot of the image.

Making my contents page

For my contents page, I chose text which was edited similarly to my front cover, but without making it look to bland.

I chose topics for the contents page which would appeal to my target audience, but also appeal to a wide range of students.

Continued

I changed the colour of the text to make it stand out more on the pictures.

I put relevant pictures under some of the contents topics, but overlapped the text t oadd interest.

Where I got some Inspiration from

I got some inspiration for my student magazine from a contents page I found online and used for my college magazine research, as I really liked the way that it was presented.
