Meydan TV was created in 2013 as a non-profit online multimedia platform

Who we Are

is a non-profit online multimedia platform that stands for editorial independence and diversity, publishing content in Azerbaijani, English, and Russian. It was launched in spring 2013 through Azerbaijan’s first successful crowd-funding initiative, and is administered by a German non-profit NGO, Vereinigung für die Demokratie in Aserbaidschan e.V.

Why we Do itAs one of the last surviving sources of independent reporting on Azerbaijan, Meydan TV fills a major gap in mainstream reporting from Azerbaijan, where media is largely state controlled and restrictions on freedom of expression and association continue to escalate.

Meydan TV’s unique model of networked journalism has created one of the few public spaces where journalists, activists, writers and other opinion-shapers are able to exercise their right to freedom of expression.

Our Mission

Meydan TV’s mission is to:

• inform active members of the society about the state of affairs in politics, economy and social issues; and

• provide a platform for open and diverse discussions on all topical issues concerning Azerbaijani society.

Our visionOur vision is to build up a thriving independent online multimedia media platform that publishes a variety of engaging and innovative content on Azerbaijan and the region, in Azerbaijani, English, and Russian.

Our values- Creativity- Integrity- Inclusiveness- Tolerance- Courage
