HOW TO USE

IFTTT TO

AUTOMATE

YOUR ONLINE

LIFE

May be you are

thinking about this:

The web is a big

tubular mesh…

A mesh of

interconnectedness

You would want

this…

What you post on

Facebook…

would automatically

be posted on other

sites

Here comes

IFTTT.

It has changed all

these.

It makes the web

very powerful.

Web-service

ingredients are

brought together.

IFTTT means…

If this, then that

There is a trigger

event that happens.

Then, a resulting

action occurs.

First, log into your

account.

Type your username

or email ad.

Type your

password.

Then, click sign in.

Be sure that you

already have an

account.

If not, create one.

Connect to some

channels.

Here are some of

the channels.

What is a channel?

What is their

essence?

It is IFTTT language

for a web service.

Also, it’s the

language for other

actions.

Now, let’s pull the

trigger.

Create a recipe.

Open the My

Recipes tab.

It is a the top of

the page.

Then, click the big

blue “Create a

Recipe.”.

Then, you can see

a text onscreen.

Click the "this"

link.

Choose trigger

channel.

If you want to view

all the channels, …

scroll the page

down.

Or you can click

View All Channels

button.

A chosen service

will do this:

Kicks off the cause in

the cause-and-effect

IFTTT recipe

If you choose a

channel that you

haven’t activate, …

You’ll be prompted

now to do this.

Here is an example.

Next, you’re

presented with this:

A list of specific

events

These are

available for the

channel.

Click

this.

This sets the

IFTTT in motion.

Then, you’ll add a

specific trigger fields.

Click this.

This narrows trigger

events…

to specific

occurrences

And now…

BOOM!

You are halfway

through it.

It is time to arrange

the consequences.

Click on the blue

"that" link to

continue.

It is the same as

the first step.

To set up a

subsequent action, …

You need to choose

a channel.

In this case, I

chose Facebook.

You are given three

options here.

In this case, I chose

“Create a status

message”.

Fill it up.

Then, click

“Create Action”.

You are, then,

navigated to Action

Field Screen.

Here, you can fine-

tune the outcome of

your recipe.

If it is done, click

“Action”.

Then, you are

navigated to this

page:

This page contains

your default

settings.

This is a very sound

one.

If you are done

checking

everything, …

just click

“Update”.

And with this, …

IFTTT recipe is

complete.

You have to

remember this:

There are more that

a dozen recipes in

IFTTT.

Each will tell you

How easy each

service can be.

Just take time to craft

a powerful trigger.

Also, don’t forget

useful actions.

And now, that you

have this

knowledge, …

You can pull of

impressive feats.

Thank you for

watching!
