WOMAN IN BLACK – SOUND

Kaitlin Lodge

In the opening scene the ambient sound is the sound bridge of creepy music, which immediately creates the scene and makes the audience feel on edge. The high pitched tapping is eerie and unnatralistic.

Although the score is sound bridged the whole way through, the first diegetic noise is a cup smashing which creates affect on the viewer to make them feel startled and forebodes something bad which is going to happen.

The next diegetic sound which creates affect is the girls screaming, by this time the score is coming to a end so the screaming over powers the music playing, the score is lower than the diegetic sound with a deep low pitch, juxtaposing to the screaming which is high pitched and higher volume. It is asynchronous to the clip.
