The American Cancer Society states:

When they determined that tobacco caused cancer and birth defects, why

wasn’t it banned?

• In 1984 Congress enacted the Comprehensive Smoking Education Act of 1984 requiring four specific health warnings:– SURGEON GENERAL WARNING

• Smoking causes lung cancer, heart disease, emphysema, and may complicate pregnancy

• Quitting smoking now greatly reduces serious risks to your health

• Smoking by pregnant women may result in fetal injury, premature birth, and low birth weight

• Cigarette smoke contains carbon monoxide

Warning Labels

• You will nearly always find a warning label on your toothpaste, and some shaving gels and deodorants.

• Why are these warning labels on “Personal Care” Products?

DIRECTIONS: Adults and children 2 years and older. Apply toothpaste onto a soft bristle toothbrush. Brush thoroughly after meals or at least twice a day or as directed by a dentist or physician. Children under 6 years: To minimize swallowing, use a pea sized amount supervise brushing until good habits are established. Children under 2 years: Ask a dentist or physician.
