Pressure Equalizing Tube

PE Tube: these tubes are placed into an incision or opening in the eardrum to prevent middle ear infections.

BC: is the conduction of sound through the skull.

AU: also called binaural hearing which enables one to hear from both ears.

OM: is an inflammation of the middle ear.

EM: is the ideal state of the eye in which no refractive error is present.

Exotropia

XT: a noticeable outward deviation of the eyes.

OS: Oculus sinister

Extraocular Movement

EOM: controls the muscles that make eye movements.

Visual Acuity

VA: is acuteness or clearness of vision.  A standard eye chart is necessary to make comparisons and to record people's visual acuity.
