Sustainable and Environmentally Friendly:

The design of the building placed sustainability and environmentally friendly installations at its core.

Heated by a biomass boiler burner unit, incorporating recycled wood shavings as a fuel source.

Where possible as many existing materials were reused including the original pitch pine school floor.

New Initiatives.

This is the first library in Limerick to be 100% self service.

All transactions can be performed on-line by the public.

Thinking Outside the Book: Solus Source Table

The “Solus System” is the first such system in Ireland.

An interactive touchscreen PC based on a Windows 8 platform

Allows users to research local history, browse the Images Archive and even play Games.

Demonstrating the 3D Google Maps app

Making frontline services more accessible

A front-end facility to access a range of Council Services in the building.

Cutting edge touch screen technology will interface with the Council’s new Customer Relationship Management System.

Information and forms will be available to download and print.

Customers will be able to interact directly with Council through e-mail, text and tweet.

4 specially designed Arts Studios form part of the new Library complex

Each Unit comprises a studio workspace and toilet. The studio units have the benefit of a security alarm system, an electric

storage heating system and a Belfast sink.

The aim is to provide an affordable space for artists to create while supporting artistic vibrancy in the rural community.

Community Library:

Active engagement with the local community on all aspects of this project.

A bespoke local history section.

Age Friendly Library Charter.

Weekly visits from schools and play groups, the day care centre and local residential home.

A Successful Beginning…

Cappamore Library was officially opened by Minister for Finance, Michael Noonan, on Monday April the 14th, 2014.

To date, Cappamore Library has registered over 800 new members.

7,000 items have been issued.
