Background

5

What is Net Impact?

Started in California in the 1990s. Now there are chapters all over the world!

Bristol is only the second Net Impact Professional Chapter in the UK - the other being in London

There are Graduate and Student chapters in Leeds, London, Exeter, Edinburgh, Nottingham and Cranfield

6

What is Net Impact?

We are here to provide the network and resources to inspire emerging leaders to build successful "impact careers" – either by working in jobs dedicated to change or by bringing a social and environmental lens to traditional business roles

7

Working in sustainability...

- Working in sustainability can be difficult! From climate change to peak oil, the challenges we face can seem overwhelming. How can we avoid burnout?

- We have found one answer is to surround yourself with positive people who are doing inspiring things!

- The Net Impact Bristol professional chapter is here to provide a like-minded community and networking events to help drive positive change on the job

8

Does Bristol need another network?

- Many green professional networks are based on the company not the individual

- Many events take place during working hours so can be hard to get approval for time out of office

- Other more informal events are excellent for those in the know but can feel ‘cliquey’ for newcomers

- We feel there is a need for something to ‘join the dots’, and are interested to hear from you so we can feed your ideas in and shape it accordingly!

9

What do we plan to do?

• Special events

• Networking opportunities

• Skill building programmes

• Opportunities for Continuing Professional Development

• Provide a platform for international knowledge exchange during Green Capital year 2015

• And..........?? What else would you like to see? Tell us!
