Now I am going to introduce an Indian poet Nandita das.

Born and grew up in Bangalore.

‘State-mate’ is her famous poem.

Her poems are rich in humor, Imagery, philosophical thoughts.

Today we are going to learn a poem which describes the poet’s experience in her class when the teacher calls for answering.

Teacher recites the poem

I was inattentive in science class one day when the teacher at random looked my way I didn’t look up , I wouldn’t dare , there is no escaping that intense glare.

“Asked me to explain to the class”.

“Newton’s Law of gravitation and mass”

“My mind was a blank, heartbeats louder

For an answer I started to flounder”
